Billing: The Billing can be accessed through the Settings button tab allows you to upgrade or cancel your subscription as well as view and download any previous invoices.

Board: A board is a document made up of different content that is organized to convey a message. It can be to communicate a concept for a new fashion collection or showcase design sketches or act as a visual line plan. The possibilities are limitless.

Board Header: The board header is located at the top of the board and is always visible. On the board header, you can edit the name of the board, use the undo/redo buttons, zoom in and out, and use the share button.

Browser Extension: Save to Make the Dot is a browser extension to easily save images across different web pages to Make the Dot directly. It is also a great way to retain the source URL of where the image originates from.


Card: Any visual element on a board, for example, a text card or an image card.

Collection: A collection is referred to as a fashion collection or product drop - multiple products which are being launched to market at the same time. You can freely determine whether they will use one or more than one board to organize the concepts for each collection.

Color Card: A type of card that can be added to a board from the toolbar. It contains the RGB value, Hex code, and/or Pantone code of the specific color hue. You can use this to easily create color palettes for your collection.

Color Tool: A tool from the toolbar to add color references to your board, either from a color picker or from the Pantone picker.

Comments: A comment can be added for each individual card, to allow conversation between the user and the reviewer(s) on each individual card on the board.

Comments Panel: The comments panel consists of a summary of the card details and the comments thread. It is opened when you click on the comment icon from the toolbar.

Context Menu: There are several context menus available on the canvas. Clicking or right clicking on a card or collection of cards will open the context menu and allow multiple actions, such as commenting, deleting, viewing details and deleting.

Demo Board: A board included in every user account by default, to showcase the potential use cases of Make the Dot.

Editor: An Editor is a user who has been invited to edit a board by a board owner. They can perform the same actions as an owner with the exception of removing other editors from the board.

Filter: Located on the Board Header, filter lets you quickly filter the board content by either the card type, group, or a combination of both.

Image Card: A type of card that can be added to a board from the toolbar. Make the Dot currently supports JPG, JPEG, PNG, and GIF files.

Main Menu: The Main Menu is where you can access all your editable boards, and boards that have been shared with you by your collaborators. You would also be able to access onboarding materials including the Demo Board.

My Profile: My Profile can be accessed on every page on the bottom left corner of the app. It allows you to change your name, company name, role and to log out of the app.

Owner: Every board has a single owner that has full permission to manage the board, including making edits on the board and inviting a reviewer.

Pantone Picker: This is an option under the Color Tool to allow you to select a color for a color card. The Pantone Picker features colors from the Pantone TCX library and allows you to search for a color by TCX code or color hue name.

Reviewer: Reviewer is a type of collaborator in Make the Dot who can view and comment on a board, but cannot edit the contents within it.

Settings: The Settings button located at the bottom of the left menu allows the user to see their name and email address and access the billing tab. If the user has logged in with their email and password then they can amend the details here. Entering the platform via the google login will not allow any changes.

Share: The Share button, located in the top right corner of the board, allows you to invite unlimited editors who can perform all actions on the board with the exception of removing other editors from the board.

Text Card: A type of card that can be added to a board from the toolbar; for example a title, description, or quote to explain the inspiration.

Text Editor: A panel that is displayed when you add a text card. The Text Editor allows you to style your text in different ways with a predefined set of font families, font sizes, font styles, and the option to have a transparent background on the text card.

Toolbar: The toolbar sits on the left side of the board. It lets you insert cards (e.g., text, images, color), access the comment mode, launch the messenger to contact the Make the Dot team, suggest features, access the onboarding checklist, and access the main menu.

Upload Tool: A tool from the toolbar to add image cards to the board. It lets to select multiple images (up to 50 at a time) to upload to the board.

Users: Anyone invited to join a workspace is considered a user. Users will have different access levels depending on whether they are an owner or reviewer of the board.
